No Kid Hungry Orange T-shirts
I sold no kid hungry orange t-shirts to all of the FCCLA chapter members and high school teachers for the "Wear Orange Day", where we all wore the shirts to raise awareness of childhood hunger. On the order form I gave information about No Kid Hungry. Childhood hunger in America is a big problem, and this is especially apparent in our community. Approximately
fifty percent of our study body qualifies for the free lunch and breakfast
program. We also have a large number of younger student that qualify for the
Buddy Pack program, which gives food to kids on the weekends. I explained how No Kid Hungry works to fix these problems, and how they can help us in our community.
Family Movie Night Concession Stand
Members of my community came to the Family Movie Night to bring canned food an support our local food bank. We also had a food drive at our school in October to try and raise 100 pounds of canned food. While they were there having fun at the movie night and learning about No Kid Hungry and the childhood hunger issue, we had a concession stand with all proceeds being donated directly to No Kid Hungry. Everyone was very supportive, and there were even a few people that donated directly to No Kid Hungry.
Fundraising Results
Through these fundraisers we had planned to make $100 to donate to No Kid Hungry. We far exceeded our fundraising goal by raising a total of $160 to donate to the No Kid Hungry organization! We also exceeded our goals with collecting food for the canned food drive. Our original goal was 100 pounds, but we ended up with 142 pound of food for our local food bank!
